The beloved AOE silence racial ability as you may know it is no more.

Arcane Torrent is discovered dead today, inside latest World of Warcraft: Battle For Azeroth alpha build. The stalwart racial ability that inspired numerous Blood Elf race changes because their effete looks and attitude was considered mandatory by PVE-ers and PVP-ers alike. Originally, Arcane Torrent was an AOE silence using a 1.5 minute cooldown which also restored a modest amount of resources on the Blood Elf who invoked it. It has won more arena games and saved more Mythic+ runs than possibly another ability inside game.

According to datamined changes found by MMO-Champion, Arcane Torrent has undergone a transformation, and it’s not to the better. Now, as opposed to a silence, Arcane Torrent will dispel one beneficial buff coming from all enemies within 8 yards, while still restoring some resource.

It’s a major change, then one that many players feel is way too far inside the other direction. Arcane Torrent was hands-down the strongest racial ability inside game, but is this fact taking it to your opposite extreme?

Not for being outdone, Humans also had their racial ability, Every Man For Himself, nerfed. It now shares a 90 second cooldown using the PVP trinket and other alike abilities, in lieu of 30.

Will this cause a reduction in Blood Elf characters as performance-minded players plunge to something that has a more useful racial? Only time will tell.
