Now-deleted NYCFC Instagram post confirms first FIFA 19 player face scans

New York City FC's Instagram account has revealed the initial piece of concrete info for FIFA 19: the other day the MLS club's roster had EA's comprehensive facial scanning process for inclusion hanging around.

Luxembourg centre-back Maxime Chanot would be the first player confirmed to own been head-scanned, after he featured in said Instagram post, which – incredibly – was deleted while I was penning this story. Thankfully, reddit user Soovin screen-capped it merely in time:

The caption "@easportsfifa Head Scan Day" accompanied the pic before deletion. With it being highly unlikely that player faces can be patched into FIFA 18 few months after release, there are no doubt which edition the wonderful pictures are intended for.

NYCFC do already have real-face representation in-game, via David Villa. This scanning session should see him joined by the kind of keeper Sean Johnson, winger Rodney Wallace, and new signing Saad Abdul-Salaam, along with Chanot.

Also known to own been scanned eventually are English League Two club Forest Green Rovers. This was always presumed to get been for FIFA 18, though the scans haven't ever materialised in-game. Perhaps, then, EA is holding back on like the plucky Cotswolders until FIFA 19 – a risky move, since at time of writing they're in grave danger to be relegated through the football league.
