Explosive Environments Possibly Coming To Fortnite

A Reddit user by the name of Iqid_Loopz has recently posted to the r/FortniteBR subreddit with an idea for the already existing environmental items in Fortnite to be made explosive and able to be used tactically against players.The user backed up their idea by highlighting select locations in the game which could explode if shot or triggered by a player. For example, if a Fortnite player shot an item such as an explosive red barrel, or hit it with a pickaxe – it would explode and hurt anyone within range.

This is seen in lots of video games, and is almost a cliche – but in a Battle Royale perspective, the idea could be used very tactically. However, we may actually see this idea come to life – as Eric Williamson, Lead Designer for Fortnite at Epic Games, actually commented on the post the Reddit user made.

“We’ve discussed this a few times, it’s a great idea. Unfortunately haven’t been able to get around to it yet but would love to in the near future. Any objects that would do stuff other than explode?”

Looks like we may actually be seeing this idea implemented into the game, even though Season 6 is around the corner and Epic Games may have their hands full. Either way, we can almost guarantee this is a feature that is coming to the game.
